A living room with small inventory tags on a lamp, chair and cabinet, beside an open photo binder.

Photograph each room, then tap the photo where each thing is: the TV, the sofa, the ring in the drawer. Add the model, serial, receipt and what it would cost to replace. See what it all adds up to against your policy, which valuable things would not stand up in a claim yet, and when the filters and warranties are due. After a loss, mark what went, print a claim with every photo, and keep track of what the insurer has paid and what is still owed once each thing is replaced.

Photos stay on the device you took them on. They are shrunk, their location and camera details are removed, and they are kept in this browser; they are never uploaded. The list of rooms and things, and the ids of their photos, are saved in this browser. To keep the photos with the inventory, or to move it to another device, download the inventory file on the Claim and files tab; it holds every photo. Keep a copy somewhere other than your home, because the loss it is for may take the device with it.

Every value is yours: the replacement cost you entered, or the price paid where you entered none, times the quantity. The limits are the ones you copy from your policy. Something counts as ready for a claim when it has a photo (a pin on a room photo counts), a value, and a receipt or, for things that carry one, a serial number. What an insurer pays, including whether it pays replacement cost or actual cash value, is set by your policy and the adjuster.

Upkeep dates come from the interval and the last-done date you enter. The calendar file holds each next date once; mark a task done here and download it again for the one after.
